One little trick that I use often when downloading a file from one location to add to my WordPress library is to simply drag the downloaded file from the bottom of the Chrome window to where I need it. As you download files in Chrome, you will notice that the files are listed along the bottom of your browser window.

If you are working in the WordPress Media Library, you can simply drag the file from the bottom of Chrome into the Media Library. You don’t need to click “Add New.” This works even when simply viewing the current items in your Media Library:

This method also works with file upload buttons. If you have a “Choose File” input, drag your file right on top of it.

Save a step and stop rooting around your Downloads folder!
